Une anatomie de mouvements

From the minds of the t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e duo, (Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent), An Anatomy of Movements is a dance-documentary project that infiltrates the urban space in search of dance and sports fans. At the crossroads between coordination and artistic gesture, this participative project is an ode to the plurality of the Brussels territory through the prism of movement.

The company travels around Brussels compiling different types of movement and meeting the locals. The initial set of encounters took place in May 2022 in Schaerbeek (Parc Josaphat, Place Lehon, etc.), followed by the centre of Brussels.

An Anatomy of Movements is presented in two parts: a participatory movement device (#prologue) and a performance (#3xBxl).

#3xBxl

On the evening of the Art+People 2022 event, in the courtyard of the Erasmushogeschool, Place du Jardin aux Fleurs, a performance anchored in reality took place, revealing three singular choreographic stories. Nil Görkem, Turkish woman, Sufi dancer and feminist, met during a #prologue in Schaerbeek; Robert Natan, born in Belgium, CrossFit enthusiast; and Marianne Chargois, sex worker and contortionist, were given the opportunity to talk about their practices with visitors, as well as perform their style of movement. It was an enlightening moment, during which the diversity of Brussels was shown through movement!

This scheme will continue in various districts of Brussels until 2024 with the aim of becoming “19xBxl” and being presented at the Halles de Schaerbeek, where the company is in residence.

#Prologue

As part of the Lab and in preparation for the Art+People 2022 event, the company set up its caravan at Place du Jardin aux Fleurs on the 24th and 25th August 2022 and at Square Jacques Brel on the 9th and 10th September 2022. These events enabled local residents to share their own sporting practices and to discover new ones. From the most familiar to the most unusual, participants came to perform their favourite form of movement: juggling with Olivier, football demonstration with Maysa, as well as traditional Irish dancing with Laura and Quidditch with Florian and Javier!

Creation and event: Pierre Larauza and Emmanuelle Vincent
Performers: Nil Görkem, Robert Natan and Marianne Chargois.
Coordination: Manon André
Technical control and archiving: Thy Truong Minh and Serge Payen
Mixtape: Rebel Up
With the participation of the people of Brussels.
