Le Maillot - One Size Fits All
Ahilan Ratnamohan and Globe Aroma co-created Le Maillot – One Size Fits All, a choreography that brings together a group of performers with different artistic practices, such as dance, photography, fashion, video and athletics, who all share a passion for football. Together, they created works based on the football shirt and the infinite number of cultural and physical meanings attached to it.
Starting from the act of tugging on a shirt – which in a football match brings you into contact with your opponent and is typically considered an aggressive tactic – they try to take this action to the extreme, to deconstruct its aggressive and competitive nature, in order to create something new.
For the first time, as part of the Art+People event, Le Maillot – One Size Fits All was performed outdoors. In doing so, it was the performers who went out to meet the public, temporarily occupying the team sports field in Parc Fontainas.

However, the temporary use of the land and the park could not be envisaged without a suitable alternative for their users. The nuitblanche team joined forces with Anneessens 25, which, as its name suggests, works in the Anneessens district, among other places. The non-profit organisation hosts primarily football-related activities and various events in the neighbourhoods, especially over the summer. On the evening of the Art+People 2022 event, Anneessens 25 set up multiple football modules and invited various freestylers to perform demos. During the intermissions, the performers of Le Maillot – One Size Fits All took part in various activities, to the great pleasure of the audience who were able to interact with the artists in a different way.
